Course Description: This course is an introduction to the topics that appear on the American Society for Quality Certified Quality Technician and Certified Quality Inspector Examinations. This course starts with basic arithmetic through simple algebra, common geometry and trigonometry formulas, problem solving, metric conversions, control charts, reliability, sampling, quality costs, audits, and metrology. A training manual will be provided and two textbooks (approximately $50 combined) will need to be purchased.

Target Audience: The Certified Quality Improvement Associate is an individual with a basic knowledge of quality tools and their uses and is involved in quality improvement projects, but does not necessarily come from a traditional quality area. Exam is on June 5, 2010.
Course Description: This course will review the topics in the ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate Examination. The body of knowledge includes but is not limited to: quality basics, benefits of quality, quality philosophies, roles and responsibilities of teams, team formation and group dynamics, problem solving process, improvement tools, and customer-supplier relationships. Course Description: As we attempt to measure items, whether it is the output of a process dimension, a temperature or simply counting items, there exists variation in our gauging systems. In this course, we will address methods to minimize this variation. The topics that will be covered are: parts of the gauge system, types of gauge studies, repeatability and reproducibility, assessing the potential of a gauge, precision/tolerance ratio, and assessing and maintaining control of a gauge. A training manual will be provided and no additional materials will need to be purchased.
CERTIFIED QUALITY PROCESS ANALYST EXAM PREP

Target Audience: The Certified Quality Process Analyst is a paraprofessional who, in support of and under the direction of quality engineers or supervisors, analyzes and solves quality problems and is involved in quality improvement projects. Exam is on December 4, 2010.

STATISTICS FOR QUALITY ENGINEERS

Target Audience: This course is intended for individuals who plan to take the Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Refresher course, but need to complete a statistics course or review statistics before the Refresher. It is also intended for individuals who have taken the CQE Refresher but want a better statistics background before taking the exam.
Course Description: This course is intended to cover the statistics topics on the Certified Quality Engineer exam. The course includes but is not limited to: descriptive statistics, probability and probability distributions, sampling distributions, statistical inference, and regression and correlation. A textbook (approximately $15) will need to be purchased.
DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS
Course Schedule: September 13, 2010 to November 22, 2010

Course Description: A designed experiment is a test or series of tests that can enable an experimenter to draw conclusions about a situation under study. It involves inducing a response to determine the effects of certain controlled parameters. The experimenter tries to determine the best setting for product or process parameters. In this course, a comparison is made between classical (or Western) designs and Taguchi designs. After completion of this course, the participants will be able to conduct or participate in experiment planning sessions as well as to design and analyze experiments for many of the situations they will encounter on the job. A training manual will be provided and no additional materials will need to be purchased.

Basic tools for performing meaningful root cause analysis will be presented including where they are best used and practice using the tools.
